Peetwood Park
The goal of this project is to construct a stable stream channel that will protect vegetation, adjacent property and infrastructure, and improve water quality in Brush Creek. In addition to its own funds, the City is receiving funds from a State of Kansas 319 Grant and Johnson County’s Stormwater Management program.
Indian Lane Bridge
The bridge at the intersection of Indian Lane and 66th Street has reached the end of its useful life. A timber bridge will replace the current structure.
Mission Drive/Oakwood Stormwater Improvements
The intersection at Mission Drive and Oakwood Road currently floods during heavy rain events due to the undersized stormwater pipe. This project includes improvements that will reduce the flooding frequency of the intersection. This project is on hold pending the results of the stormwater masterplan.
70th Terrace and State Line Road Stormwater Improvements
The stormwater pipes that carry water off of State Line Road at these intersections are currently undersized which can result in these intersections flooding during heavy rain events. These improvements will include larger pipes that can carry more water off of the roadway.
Street Work Program
The only street being rebuilt in 2009 is State Line Road. This project is being managed by the City of Kansas City, Missouri as they are sharing 50% of the costs associated with the milling and paving of the asphalt. The City of Mission Hills will also be doing spot concrete work along the west side of State Line Road. The City is also receiving matching funds from the Johnson County CARS program.
Mill and Pave Street Program
The streets included in the City’s mill and pave program will not only be milled and paved, but may also have some spot concrete work and full depth patching done. The 2009 mill and pave program includes: Wenonga Road (cul de sac to Tomahawk Road), Verona Road (Verona Circle to 63rd Street), East Mission Drive and Shadow Lane. |
