David Dickey was elected to the Council in 2007 after serving as the Mission Hills City Treasurer since 2005. He and his wife Erika have been residents of Mission Hills for more than 11 years, and have three children. David received his BA in Economics and History from Stanford University and an MBA from the University of California at Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. He is a Marketing Director for Sprint Nextel, leading Nextel device and service pricing, as wel as economic analysis. Prior to joining Sprint he had stints with Deloitte, Nestle and Hoffman/Lewis. David currently serves on the Board of Directors of Luna Vineyards, as well as non-profit service on the boards of Impact KC and the Mid-America chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society. He also is actively involved in his children's school and coaches youth soccer and basketball. David's first two Council years have focused on: 1) tightening building regulations to ensure better balance between residents impacted by construction and residents looking to redevelop or enhance their property, 2) continued fiscal discipline, and 3) maintaining excellence in public safety. His primary goals for the City for 2009-2010 are to: 1) further enhance building requirements and ordinances to ensure that Mission Hills maintains its character, while attracting appropriate redevelopment, 2) ensure vigilant fiscal discipline in the fact of substantial state funding cuts, and 3) maintain the City's excellence in public safety and services.
